Transcripts (11/08)
I heard something on the news yesterday . . . how many times have you received a request referencing something heard on the news? The Transcripts file on nexis.com® is your answer for meeting those formerly hard-to-track-down reference requests!
The Transcripts file contains information from a wide variety of news sources, both television and radio. So if, for example, one of your patrons contacts you indicating that within the last couple of days she heard on the radio a discussion about a meeting of the Group of 20 but couldn’t recall what program or radio station, you can turn to the nexis.com service.
To find all transcripts of radio and television programs, go to the sources tab at nexis.com and enter the key word transcripts. You can then simply select the transcript file and enter the following search: group of 20, and add a date restriction. The answer set will provide all recent references to the Group of 20. In this case, information sought was found in: National Public Radio® (NPR), Show: Morning Edition, November 12, 2008.
