It's Official! The lexis.com service Now Offers Some PDF Case Documents

Need a copy of the case that looks just like the book?

Now you can link to a PDF image of the official reports version of some opinions available through lexis.com.*

Just look for the View Official Reports PDF of This Document ($) link at the top of the opinion. (For law school subscribers, the viewing charge is waived.)

The scope of this PDF offering includes:

  • U.S. Supreme Court Cases, Lawyers’ Edition: approximately 1,100 U.S. Supreme Court opinions from 1997 – 2005).
  • California: nearly 22,000 Supreme Court and Court of Appeals cases from 1983
to the most recent bound volume.
  • Georgia: more than 32,000 Supreme Court and Court of Appeals cases from 1985 to the most recently produced bound volume.
  • New Hampshire: more than 900 Supreme Court cases from late-2001 to early-2007.
  • Vermont: almost 700 Supreme Court cases from early-2001 through mid-2006.
  • Washington: about 400 Supreme Court and Court of Appeals cases from 2003 to the most recent bound volume

As the official publisher, LexisNexis creates PDF files as the print volumes are assembled. (That’s why the most recent decisions are not yet included.) And only LexisNexis can make these PDF images available. For litigators who need to file an official copy of a case document with the court, these PDFs offer an easy-to-use, timesaving way to produce official report images.
