Users don’t need their LexisNexis® ID/Password to gain access to the updates. This is the tool to keep your organization in the know. (Not to mention that you make yourself look really good along the way!)
So why revisit this great resource now? As with the entire LexisNexis® suite of products, we continue to improve and expand. In this issue, I bring to your attention some of the latest enhancements to LexisNexis Publisher. Here’s what’s available:
1. Cost Recovery Tools: These enable client matter assignment, user verification and detailed usage reporting. We know that many law firms, professional services organizations and other entities choose to recover some or all of their online research charges. LexisNexis Publisher now offers effective tools to assist with your cost-recovery needs.
2. Expanded Newsletter Options: You spoke, and we listened.
Now you’ll find:
• A scheduling feature that allows you to select a delivery time.
• You can add text at the newsletter template level, not just the individual issue.
• Documents previously sent are marked so that editors can easily determine which results have already been delivered.
• You can change the sort order of sent newsletter issues so that the most recently sent appear at the top of the list.
• A return to top link has been added for non-HTML newsletter issues.
3. Expansion of Mobile Device Capabilities: The mobile-friendly view in browser option, added to the newsletter feature in December, has been extended to standard email notifications to make content more viewable for readers on-the-go without HTML-enabled devices. In addition, the token authentication method has been enabled for the “view in browser” display for both newsletters and emails, which allows recipients whose mobile devices are not covered by their organization’s IP address to access full- text articles without being prompted to log in. (This feature is limited to LexisNexis Intranet Publisher.
4. Customization of Email Alerts: Now you can customize the from and reply to fields added to email notifications. (Previously this option was only available for newsletters.) Email alerts can look like they are being delivered from within the user’s organization. The “reply to” option enables a recipient to send feedback directly to a designated internal contact, allowing a two-way communication channel.
5. Logo Gallery Expansion: Logo administration and thumbnail galleries have been extended to online and email displays. Previously editors had to store logos on local servers and point to them via a URL. This often required the involvement of IT personnel. This action is no longer needed now that image files can be uploaded to LexisNexis Publisher and inserted into any header/footer display.
6. Improvement to Topic Deletion: Still today the Topic Delete function will challenge editors before they remove a topic, so they can avoid accidentally deleting relevant information. But the process is easier. You are no longer required to enter the precise topic name, which, due to formatting peculiarities, made it difficult to remove unwanted topics.
I am sure you will all agree LexisNexis Publisher is one fantastic current awareness tool that just keeps getting better and better. If your firm does not have a subscription, now is the time to take another look. Contact your LexisNexis Librarian Relations Consultant for a demo, and let LexisNexis Publisher begin working for you.
