Jenny Kanji
Jenny is the Senior Librarian Relations Consultant at LexisNexis for Northern California and Alaska. Jenny addresses the concerns and interests of librarians in law firms, law schools and federal and state courts in this territory and communicates viewpoints of her customers to the management at LexisNexis in order to provide the highest level of service. Additionally, Jenny consults with customers’ library management teams on strategies for evaluating and integrating print and online information systems and assists them with identifying and implementing enterprise-wide solutions.
Jenny has many years of library expertise and continues to be actively involved at the National and Regional level in the Special Libraries Association and the American Association of Law Libraries. She has served as the Treasurer of the SLA Legal Division; Government Chairperson of the SLA Legal Division; Chairperson for Academic Relations for the San Francisco Chapter of the Special Library Association and Committee Member of the Private Law Librarians Education Committee chartered to plan the programs for the AALL Annual Conference. Most recently, she was the Scholarship Committee Chair of AALL and the Chair of Nomination Committee for the PLL-SIS.
Jenny has been a featured speaker at various Regional and National Library Association conferences including PLI Library workshops where she has addressed topics such as “Managing the Virtual Library," “Content, Collaboration & Cost: Negotiating License Agreements for Intranets, & Portals,” “Outsourcing the Library”, “Teaming up with the Marketing Department” and is most commonly known for her program on “60 Sites in 60 Minutes” that has been featured at several SLA Annual conferences.
Jenny received her BA degree in History from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and a Master of Library Science degree in Law Librarianship from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, British Columbia.

1. What is one thing you have learned about yourself while being an LRC?
I am an excellent event planner!
2. What technology has transformed your life, you can’t imagine living without it now, and why?
I am ashamed to say, PowerPoint®, I know it is overdone but I can’t imagine life without it.
3. If you won a trip to anywhere in the world, where would you go, and why?
South Africa because I would love to do a safari there.
4. You are traveling around the world, and only have room for two books. Which two do you take and why?
Rumi’s poetry and a cookbook because no matter where I am I will have to eat.
5. If you weren’t a librarian, what would you be, and why?
Interior decorator because I love doing up houses.
6. What do you order at Starbucks®?
A Café Misto which is a fancy café lait.
7. What is your favorite meal and why?
Vegetable curry and rice, that was what I was brought up on.
