Getting to Know Rhonda

The biography above details Rhonda’s professional qualifications and experience. Now it’s time to get to know Rhonda, the person. Rhonda reveals a few cozier insights about herself in the questions below.

1. What is one thing you have learned about yourself while being an LRC?

I have learned that I really, really like to travel. I had always enjoyed travel as a hobby but to be able to do it as part of my job has been a real bonus.

2. What technology has transformed your life, you can’t imagine living without it now, and why?

E-mail is the transforming technology of my life. I love to write and prior to e-mail I was a pretty consistent letter writer. Although there really is no substitute for a handwritten note, the immediacy of e-mail permits you to communicate with friends and family anywhere in the world at any time. It still amazes me that it works!

3. If you won a trip to any where in the world, where would you go, and why?

Near the top of my personal “Bucket List” is a trip around the world. Although I’ve made some serious progress in my travels thus far, there is still so much I want to see and do. If I were a winner I’d go for the “around the world” ticket!

4. If you weren’t a librarian, what would you be, and why?

I would be an Art Historian and would be working as a curator in a museum. In my spare time I would do restoration work and spend time sketching and painting.

5. What is your favorite meal and why?

Easter Dinner. Often my birthday falls on Easter and that meal always symbolizes renewal to me. I mark the New Year in spring and love watching nature begin again with all the beautiful vegetables, fruit and flowers. My family always has a big meal that focuses on the bounty of the season. Spring comes early in Texas, so if you are lucky you can eat outside and see nature waking up: the birds building nests, the squirrels playing, the trees in bud and the bluebonnets in bloom. To me it is the perfect experience. Of course, the chocolate bunnies are a nice bonus too!
