LOCATION & TIME
Westin Stonebriar Resort, Dallas, TX. The conference begins at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 24, 2009, and concludes at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 26. Attendees are expected to attend all sessions.
COSTS
There is no registration fee to attend the AMPLL Conference. LexisNexis will cover the cost of all Conference materials, meals, lodging, and transportation to and from the Dallas airport. The selected participants are responsible for their own airfare to and from the Conference and any personal incidental charges.
SESSION DESCRIPTIONS
- The View from the “C”orner office: Learn about the business side of the law firm from a “C” level firm executive. Find out how CFOs and CEOs think about strategic planning and critical success factors for the firm.
- Big Picture Thinking: Explore ways to position the library/information center as a critical element of the firm’s success.
- Cultivate the Staff You Want: Gain skills and tools to motivate, develop and empower your staff to the benefit of the staff and the organization.
- Educate, Educate, Educate: Break down stereotypes and misperceptions of library personnel and library value. Effectively communicate goals, needs and successes.
SELECTION CRITERIA
The AMPLL Conference is open to all law librarians working in a management position, such as library manager, director, or department head in a private law or corporate legal department. In making decisions, the Advisory Council will strive for diversity in such areas as geographical distribution, firm size, and managerial experience and responsibilities. You can apply this year, even if you previously applied to attend an AMPLL Conference but were not accepted.

Debra Fisher
Debra Fisher is the Library Manager for the Washington, DC office of O’Melveny & Myers LLP, an international law firm of more than 1,000 lawyers with 14 offices on three continents. Debbie has more than 25 years of experience in law libraries including holding positions in technical services, reference, legislative research and management. She has served as Library Manager at O’Melveny for over 15 years. In addition to library responsibilities, she sits on Firm committees, her favorite being the Community Service Action Committee, which sponsors community events and encourages O’Melveny employees’ participation in charitable activities. Debbie was awarded the 2004 Values Award, one of the highest honors bestowed by O’Melveny. The Values Award recipients are honored for having made significant contributions, both professionally and personally, to the Firm, the legal profession and the community.
Debbie is actively involved in the Law Librarians’ Society of Washington, DC, American Association of Law Libraries, and Special Libraries Association, Legal Division.
Debbie holds a B.A. from the University of Colorado and an M.L.S. from the University of Denver.
Monice Kaczorowski
Monice M. Kaczorowski has been Director of Library Services for Neal Gerber Eisenberg since June 2003. Prior to joining the firm, she was Director of Libraries for Ross & Hardies for 14 years. She works closely with the Marketing Department and attends monthly Practice Group meetings to develop needs assessments and to promote business development within the firm. Monice has created a Competitive Intelligence Unit within the library that supports the firm’s practice development efforts and RFP process. Monice continues to work with the firm’s legal education committee and has developed a new associate legal research training program.
Monice’s professional affiliations include memberships in the Special Libraries Association (SLA), Chicago Association of Law Libraries (CALL), American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), SCIP (Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals). She is a past member of the WEST Advisory Board 2002-2004 and rejoined the Board in 2008 to serve a second term until 2010.
Monice earned her B.A. from St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana and her M.L.S. from Dominican University.
