Mealey’s™ Reports (5/09)

Mealey’s is an invaluable resource for a wide variety of information that cannot be found elsewhere, and includes court orders, briefs, memoranda, as well as expert lists and jury verdicts and settlements. Mealey’s reports are published in individual documents by areas of law, by geographical location, and in group files. The areas of law covered in Mealey’s are:

  • Construction
  • Corporate & Commercial Law
  • Drugs & Medical Devices
  • Employment
  • Environment
  • Health
  • Insurance
  • Intellectual Property & Technology
  • International
  • Litigation
  • Personal Injury
  • Privacy
  • Products Liability

  • Toxic Torts

There are Mealey’s reports for each state, as well as multiple reports for certain areas of law in states such as California and New York. All Mealey’s reports can be located by the following path:

Legal > Secondary Legal > Mealey™ Reports

The following group file can be used to search all Mealey’s reports at one time:

Secondary Legal > Mealey Reports > All Mealey Publications™ - Full Text - PLUS Court Documents

To locate lists of expert witnesses within Mealey’s, run the following search: expert index.

Reports discussing a particular case can be found by searching for the case name. Mealey’s lists the name of cases within the body of the document and not as a title to the document; therefore, to search for a particular case use a free-text search. For instance, to locate the case of John Doe, Inc. v. Michael Mukasey, run the following search; John Doe w/10 Mukasey.

When Mealey’s publishes court documents, it generally lists the documents as being “available.” To find a brief in the case of John Doe, Inc. v. Michael Mukasey, run the following free-text search: John Doe w/10 Mukasey and brief w/10 available. You can modify this search to find orders, complaints, memoranda and other court documents by substituting the word brief for the type of document you want.

Mealey’s is also an excellent source for information on jury verdicts and settlements. To search for jury verdicts or settlements, use the headline segment. To find medical malpractice jury awards and settlements from 2009, use the following search: headline (settl! or (jury w/5 award! or verdict)) and medical malpractice and date is 2009.
