Lexis Advance® Expanded Topic Summaries (January 14, 2013)
By Michael Saint-Onge

We are developing a collection of Topic Summaries that will provide a more comprehensive research experience! Topic Summaries provide information about legal topics that are addressed in a case or statute you are viewing. If legal topic summaries are available, you’ll see Topic Summaries in the About this Document box at the top right of the page of the document you are viewing. Since a case may address multiple legal topics, you’ll see a View Reports icon in each LexisNexis® headnote for which there is a topic summary.

Expanded depth of reports and breadth of coverage include additional sections within the reports, including Burden of Proof, Seminal Statutes and Elements Of. Topic trails will be linked within cases, enabling the user to get topic documents, create topic alerts, view the topic in context of the topic index, and for topics with the briefcase icon, view the associated topic summary report. For many topics, reports can be configured for a specific state as well.

Best feature yet? Topic Summaries are free of charge on the Lexis Advance service.
