What is RSS?
RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is an XML-based format for distributing and aggregating Web content such as news headlines. Users can have constantly updated content from Web sites delivered to them via a news aggregator, a piece of software specifically tailored to receive these types of feeds. RSS allows computers to capture and understand the information, then track and personalize it for the user. The reader checks periodically for new feeds and displays any items it finds. Users who would like more information about a particular item can usually click on a link to go directly to the full text on the relevant Web site.
