Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts

The Administrative Office manages the Federal Court System, which includes carrying out the directives of the Judicial Conference of the United States. In addition, the Rules Committee administers all Federal court rules.

The Administrative Office's Web address is www.uscourts.gov. As of January 2000, the Office did not have a main telephone number. The telephone operator gave me the number of the Accounting Department (202-502-2200), which referred me to the Department I needed.

Central Violations Bureau: The Central Violations Bureau processes tickets ("violation notice") for (a) petty offenses occurring on Federal property and (b) violations of Federal law occurring off Federal property. For questions, see the CVB's FAQ page or call the CVB at 800-827-2982.
