Kansas

Internet links to government agencies, statutes, regulations, cases, etc. are posted by FindLaw and WashLaw. Primary legal materials are also available from Lexis and Westlaw. Cases are available free from Google Scholar back to 1950. Subscription services Versuslaw and Fastcase also have cases back to 1950. Supreme and appellate court cases are published in the Pacific Reporter.

To check the status of a pending bill, pull up the Bill History through the Legislatures' Bills page. For questions, call the Legislative reference desk at the State Library (800-432-3924 in state; 785-296-2149 from outside). Legislative hearings are not recorded or transcribed, but call the Division of Legislative Administration (785-296-0399) to get meeting minutes and any prepared testimony submitted by witnesses.

The State Library posts Executive Orders back to 1975.

The Kansas Bar Association publishes a number of useful treatises including the Kansas Legal Research & Reference Guide and a series of subject-specific "Handbooks" such as the Kansas Appellate Practice Handbook, the Kansas Corporation Law & Practice Handbook, the Kansas Employment Law Handbook, etc.
