Bills from the current session are posted by the New York State Assembly and the Legislative Bill Drafting Commission. Older bills are available from Lexis (NY;NYBILL) and Westlaw (NY-BILLTXT or NY-LEGIS-OLD). You can get copies of even older bills from the New York Legislative Service.
The text of a bill is almost always included in the Bill Jacket (see separate entry for Bill Jackets).
Bill Status: For pending or recent bills, check the bill tracking information posted by the New York State Assembly, the Legislative Bill Drafting Commission or the Legislative Retrieval System. You could also call the Bill Status hotline (800-342-9860) or search Lexis (LEGIS;NYTRCK) or Westlaw (NY-BILLTRK).
For historical bill status information, search Lexis (LEGIS;TRKARC and add "and state(New York)" to the end of your search) or Westlaw (NY-LEGIS-OLD) or see the "bill tracking" section of the New York State -- Legislative History which includes information on print sources.
