Starting the Bar Exam process early with the check list below will help you get organized and on your way to your Esquire. Some of these steps, like the MPRE, can be accomplished before you decide which Bar you will take. The Board of Law Examiners is your best resource for information on your state of choice. 
 
1.       The MPRE
            -required for all but a few states
            -ethics portion of the Bar Exam
            -offered in March, August & November
            -60 question exam in two hours and five minutes
            -passing score varies by state
            -application deadline is about 1 month prior to the test date ($55)
            -late application deadline is about three weeks prior to test date ($110)
            -visit ncbex.org to register
 
2.       The Bar Application
            -visit the Board of Law Examiners website for your state. 
            -request or download the application
            -allow three to four weeks to gather data and complete the application
            -application fees can range from $80 to $500
                                                                            
3.       The Bar Review
            -Kaplan PMBR

                        ?500,000 attorney alumni and over 31 years of MBE expertise
            -General Bar Review
 
4.       The Bar Exam
            -Scoring varies by state 
            -Components vary by state 
                        ?MBE – Multistate Bar Exam
                        ?MPT – Multistate Performance Test
                        ?Essays
                        ?MPRE – Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam
                        ?MEE – Multistate Essay Exam
            -Two to three day exam
                        ?Depends on the state and the number of components
 
5.       The Esquire
                   -Be sworn in!

What is the appropriate response when a job offer is made that is much lower than I had anticipated? I don't want to insult the firm, but I also don't want to undervalue myself. "You can't be serious" doesn't seem to be appropriate...
