Starting the Bar Exam process early with the check list below will help you get organized and on your way to your Esquire. Some of these steps, like the MPRE, can be accomplished before you decide which Bar you will take. The Board of Law Examiners is your best resource for information on your state of choice.
1. The MPRE
-required for all but a few states
-ethics portion of the Bar Exam
-offered in March, August & November
-60 question exam in two hours and five minutes
-passing score varies by state
-application deadline is about 1 month prior to the test date ($55)
-late application deadline is about three weeks prior to test date ($110)

2. The Bar Application
-visit the Board of Law Examiners website for your state.
-request or download the application
-allow three to four weeks to gather data and complete the application
-application fees can range from $80 to $500
