SANTA MONICA, Calif. — Miles Electric Vehicles has announced the appointment of Kevin Czinger as president and chief executive officer.
Czinger has served as a senior executive with Goldman Sachs, Bertelsmann AG, the Webvan Group and Global Signal. Czinger has also been active at Benchmark Capital and as a senior managing director of Fortress Private Equity Funds. He is a graduate of Yale College and Yale Law School and is a leader in the charter school initiative for inner cities through his sponsorship of Achievement First Schools.
Czinger’s appointment coincides with Miles’ emergence as a leader in the low-speed, electric vehicle industry and at a time of rapid advancement toward the production of its all-electric, highway speed XS500 sedan.
Czinger will lead the Miles executive team, which consists of Chief Operating Officer Jeff Boyd and Senior Vice President of Manufacturing and Logistics Kevin Kiley.
Founded in 2005 by activist/entrepreneur Miles Rubin and headquartered in Santa Monica, Miles Electric Vehicles is marketing a line of low-speed, all-electric cars and trucks, which combine U.S. electric motor and controller technology with China’s advanced battery and vehicle manufacturing capabilities.
The company has built a fleet customer base that includes the City of Chicago, NASA, UCLA, Cal State Polytechnic University, the U.S. Navy and others. Miles is currently developing a safe, affordable, all-electric highway speed vehicle for distribution in the United States and European Union in late 2009.
