HARLEYSVILLE, Pa. -- Theodore A. Majewski has been named president and chief operating officer of Harleysville Life Insurance Company. In this new expanded role, Majewski also will continue in his leadership of Harleysville Insurance’s personal lines operations, a role he has held since 2003.
“I am confident Ted’s appointment will enable us to further leverage our life business as a key strategic differentiator for us in the marketplace,” said Michael L. Browne, Harleysville’s president and chief executive officer. “Since joining our company five years ago, Ted has led a remarkable turnaround in our personal lines operations, to the point that we now have reported an underwriting profit for 12 straight quarters, and personal lines premium has shown positive growth during the past four quarters.”
Prior to joining Harleysville, Majewski was senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for CNA/Encompass Insurance Company, part of the Allstate organization. He started with CNA in 1995, serving as senior vice president and later as chief underwriting officer. During his insurance career, he also has held leadership positions with Hanover Insurance, SAFECO Insurance and National Farmers Union Property and Casualty Company. Ted began his insurance career at A.M. Best Company.
