Top Lemon Law Attorneys To Speak At May 6 MPG Meeting
LOS ANGELES — The Motor Press Guild (MPG), America's largest professional automotive media association, has announced that two of California's most prominent lemon law attorneys will square off and explain what the lemon law is, how it works and how it affects the automotive industry.

The event begins Tuesday, May 6, with a social at 11:30 a.m. and lunch at noon at The Proud Bird Restaurant, 11022 Aviation Blvd., Los Angeles (phone:  (310) 670-3093).

William R. McGee, who operates The Law Offices of William R. McGee, California Lemon Law Attorneys, which claims to be California's largest statewide lemon law firm, will speak for the plaintiffs.  Brian Takahashi, a partner with the firm of Bowman and Brooke, will speak for the defense.

In 1987, McGee entered the field of consumer protection litigation, specifically "lemon law," with the purpose of representing California consumers who had vehicles they considered to be defective, or what are known as "lemons."  He now has a multi-office firm, which has successfully represented more than 8,000 California consumers with lemon law claims.

McGee graduated from the San Diego School of Law in 1985 and, upon being admitted to The State Bar of California, joined the San Diego City Attorney's Office, Criminal Prosecution Division, as deputy city attorney.

Takahashi has focused his practice on the representation of manufacturers in the areas of commercial and product liability.  He is a member of the State Bar in both California and Hawaii.  His automotive clients have included Honda, Ford, Porsche, Mazda, Suzuki, Toyota, Land Rover, Jaguar, and Aston-Martin.  He has tried approximately 25 lemon law cases to verdict in the State of California, including several with McGee.

Before graduating from the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, he earned a B.S. Degree from Brown University, Providence, R.I., with a major in Materials Science, which covers failure analysis.  He is knowledgeable in the investigation, litigation and trial of cases involving technical issues, and, early in his career, he represented Aloha Airlines in the litigation which resulted from the well- known fuselage failure of Flight 243.

Attorneys and other legal executives working with auto manufacturers are encouraged to attend.  For more information and to register, contact Robyn Eckard at (949) 268-3049 or press@motorpressguild.org.  The price is $20 for members and $25 for non-members and guests.

The Los Angeles-based MPG is a non-profit professional association dedicated to promoting education and information exchange within the motoring press.
