Azmina Aboobaker

Associate, Reina, Bates & Kowalski

Azmina Aboobaker was born in Karachi, Pakistan, and grew up in Los Angeles, California, and Vancouver, Canada. She graduated from the University of British Columbia in 2003 with a BA, with high honors, in political science. She then was chosen to participate in the prestigious British Columbia Legislative Internship Program, where she worked for the Immigration Division in what is now the Ministry of the Attorney General. She also assisted members of the Legislative Assembly in addressing constituent concerns. In May 2006, Ms. Aboobaker graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School. During law school, she participated in the Intensive Program in Immigration and Refugee Law and worked at Parkdale Community Legal Services, where she represented clients applying for permanent residence on humanitarian and compassionate grounds under §25 of Canada's Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. Ms. Aboobaker also participated in the national Wilson Moot, which focuses on constitutional equality issues. She is now an associate with the Reina, Bates & Kowalski Immigration Law Group in Texas.
