Scott N. Godes is counsel at the Washington, DC office of Dickstein Shapiro LLP. Mr. Godes represents corporate policyholders in insurance coverage disputes. He is an experienced trial lawyer who has litigated complex insurance coverage disputes, including class actions, in state, federal, bankruptcy, and appellate courts, as well as in commercial arbitrations. Mr. Godes has a wide-ranging coverage practice, pursuing insurance in disputes relating to directors and officers claims for alleged securities violations; allegations of damaged computer data, hardware, and software; mass tort liabilities, including asbestos; environmental property damage; flood claims; allegations of improper alcohol advertising; and class actions. Recently, Mr. Godes was lead counsel in Continental Casualty Co. v. Employers Insurance Co. of Wausau, a landmark case decided by the New York Supreme Court that ruled there are millions of dollars of coverage for thousands of asbestos claims, even after the insurers claimed to have paid their full aggregate limits of coverage. Mr. Godes received his B.A., cum laude, from Middlebury College, and his J.D., with honors, from the George Washington University Law School.
