About the Authors Clare Lu and Catherine F. ChenPartner, Llinks and Partner, Richard Wang & Co. respectively
Ms. Clare Lu is a Partner at Llinks and is proficient in Mandarin and English. She earned her LL.B from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and LL.M degree from Renmin University of China. Ms. Lu has worked with Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Tax and Business Advisory Group) as a senior consultant, and tax manager in addition to Richard Wang & Co. Law Firm as a consultant, attorney, and senior partner. She joined Llinks as a partner in June 2009. She is also a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Chinese Certified Tax Agents Association. Ms. Lu is also vice-chairman of Finance and Taxation Committee of Shanghai Bar Association and a member of Foreign Affairs Committee of Shanghai Bar Association. She specializes in taxation advisory, although she advises foreign-invested enterprises and PRC listed companies, assists foreign investors (in company structure study, business models planning, projects negotiation, documents drafting and reviewing in foreign direct investments),conducts tax and legal due diligence reviews and provides consulting services in merger & acquisition cases, group restructuring projects and overseas IPOs by PRC companies. She also performs tax compliance reviews for foreign-invested enterprises and PRC listed companies, helps them in reviewing agreements in cross-border transactions and conducts feasibility studies on business plans.
Catherine F. Chen is a senior partner of Richard Wang & Co. She earned her L.L.B. and L.L.M. degrees from the West China University of Politics and Law. She is also a member of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA). Ms. Chen has worked at Shen Yin Wan Guo Securities Corporation as an investment manager, Construction Bank of China as a legal counsel. She joined Richard Wang & Co, in August 2000. Ms. Chen is familiar with financial and accounting practices. She has also served as primary counsel of multinational corporations and companies for general legal affairs. These cases include foreign investment, sports sponsorship, licensing, merger and acquisition, overseas IPOs.
