Ann V. Kramer is a partner in the New York office of Reed Smith LLP. Ann has more than two decades of experience in the insurance recovery field, with special focus on the pharmaceutical industry and settlement of complex insurance disputes. Ann has represented clients in negotiations, mediations, arbitrations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. She also counsels clients in connection with the operation of coverage in place agreements. She also was one of the first developers of computerized insurance allocation models for long-tail claims. These models have been used in product liability, environmental remediation and toxic tort claims.
Ann’s areas of expertise include product liability, product recall and contamination claims and policies, as well as toxic tort and environmental claims. She also counsels clients on Directors & Officers policy terms and renewals. Ann advises corporations concerning insurance issues that arise in connection with mergers and acquisitions.
In addition, Ann has acted as insurance coverage counsel to debtors, asbestos claimants committees and future claimant representatives in §524(g) bankruptcy proceedings. In the April 2007 issue of The Deal’s Bankruptcy Insider, Ann was ranked second as active legal advisor to asbestos claimants of bankrupt companies. She has a B.A., cum laude, from Queens College of the City University of New York, and her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Michigan School of Law.
