Michael Lufkin of the Marten Law Group has practiced environmental law for nearly ten years focusing on environmental and natural resource litigation and climate change issues. During the course of his career, Mike has represented both public and private clients in matters involving project permitting, hazardous waste cleanup, development of environmental impact statements and energy facility siting.
Mike has special expertise in the area of climate change. He assists clients in strategically analyzing their greenhouse gas assets and liabilities and helps tailor carbon management strategies to meet their business goals. In 2004, Mike took a one-year leave of absence from the firm in order to study climate change issues in the European Union. He received a fellowship from the Robert Bosch Foundation that enabled him to study the new European Union program on carbon emissions trading while working for the German government. Mike writes and speaks frequently on the issue of climate change and carbon emissions including frequent articles for Lexis Nexis’ Environmental Law and Climate Change Center. He has also been a guest lecturer at Seattle University where he taught about the Clean Air Act and climate change issues to undergraduates.
