“Oh, to again have a president with the ethical compass of Richard Nixon!”

So ends today’s Philadelphia Daily News editorial about what it calls the Bush War on Science.

The DN cites a “long and outrageous” list of “alleged falsehoods and manipulations” by the Bush administration and the EPA that came out of Senate hearings held last week.  These include allegedly falsifying data about the safety of Ground Zero in New York after the 9-11 attacks, editing climate change reports to counteract scientific data and hiding, delaying or suppressing scientific findings unflattering to certain industries.

The blistering broadside cites a survey by the Union of Concerned Scientists that “provides more evidence of how deeply corrupt EPA has become,” it says.
