Sub-prime Litigation Update - Originator Liability Issues - Course Materials & Webcast
Please click on the link below to access materials for the recent CLE webcast sponsored by LexisNexis and presented by Megan Poetzel and Jim Thompson, partners at Jenner & Block, on Sub-prime Litigation Update -- Originator Liability Issues.

Session Description:
The collapse of the sub-prime mortgage industry has led to a wide array of diverse and expanding types of litigation.  The presentation will begin with an overview of the primary participants in this industry, tracing a mortgage from borrower, through mortgage broker, appraiser and title insurer, to a lender/Originator, who sells the loan (along with many others) to a purchaser/Issuer, who places the loans into a trust, so that the trust may issue mortgage-backed securities that are purchased by investors.

The update will broadly trace the history of the recent wave of sub-prime litigation.  This analysis will direct particular attention on issues confronting the original lenders, the Originators, as they evaluate efforts to transfer responsibility and liability back to the parties who, the Originators will claim, induced them into making mortgage loans that contained greater risk than was represented.
