Hello Counsel.
I understand there is a new LinkedIn sign in module on the LexisNexis Workers' Compensation Law Center, and I wanted to take a brief moment to share some information on the benefits of LinkedIn for practicing lawyers.
In 2008, there were 13,000,000 registered users and at least 216,000 lawyers on LinkedIn and if you’re interested in what the benefits of active LinkedIn use for lawyers may be, you don’t need to believe this evangelist, just Google “LinkedIn benefits” for yourself.
One of the first posts you’ll find is from marketing guru Guy Kawasaki and the benefits for lawyers who use LinkedIn are quickly apparent:
- increased web site traffic,
- increased visibility,
- improved Google page results,
- enhanced search engine results,
- scope out competition or partners or opposing counsel or potential clients,
- research potential jurors during voir dire,
- get more clients,
- keep up to date with your peers,
- build your professional network,
and on and on.
LinkedIn and other social media are full of benefits, and the return on investment is a wise use of time for solos, small firms, and large firms as well.
Lawyers are extremely busy, and our time is extremely valuable. Online social media such as LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook can be a time-trap, but wise use of such tools is not only profitable but required in today’s changing and techology-based economy.
Best wishes with a new foray into the world of social media, and remember that there is a world of resources for you at your fingertips.
