FIDES 2009: The Latin American Insurance Industry Comes Together

On November 1-4, 2009, Machua Millett of EAPD is participating in the 32nd Hemispheric Insurance Conference, hosted by the Federacion Interamericana de Empresas de Seguros (FIDES). FIDES 2009 is bringing together more than 800 insurance industry representatives from 22 countries in the United States, Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
 
Programs at FIDES 2009 include: The Global Insurance Economy--Industry Response & Outlook; Life Insurance in Latin America--What Is Necessary To Make It Grow?; New Trends in Quantification of CAT Risk in Latin America; Managing and Mitigating Earthquake Risk in Latin America; Insurance Underutilization in Latin America: Causes and Barriers; Climate Change and Insurance Adaptation; Leveraging the Power of Cost Containment; A Different Look at Financial Risk; IFRS, Solvency II and MCEV Requirements--How They Are Converging and How the Industry in Latin America is Preparing for Their Implementation; Opening the Costa Rican Insurance Market; Creating Sustainable Microinsurance; and Future Challenges to the Insurance Industry--CEO Panel. Mr. Millett will be reporting from the conference in this space.
