Drs. Thomas Gerhold & Sonja Roder

Dr. Thomas Gerhold studied law at the University of Cologne. He was admitted to the Bar in 1987. Before joining the Cologne team of avocado rechtsanwälte as partner in 2003, he had worked in a law firm specialising in environmental and technology law, where he was a partner from 1990 to 2000. In his practice, Dr. Gerhold advises clients on all issues of environmental law, chemicals law, occupational safety & health law and the law of product safety. He has many years of experience in complex procedures regarding permission of industrial facilities. A further focus of his practice concerns legal advice on all issues relating to the remediation of brown-fields and land recycling.

Dr. Sonja Röder studied law at the universities of Munster, Cologne and Liverpool. She obtained a postgraduate masters degree from the Humboldt University Berlin. Dr. Röder was admitted to the Bar in 2006 and worked in a large international law firm in Cologne before she joined the Cologne office of avocado rechtsanwälte in 2008. Her practice includes legal advice to and representation of waste management enterprises as well as enterprises from the manufacturing industry regarding all aspects of environmental law, in particular, waste management and pollution control law. In addition, she advises public and private clients concerning the remediation of brown-fields and landfills.
