Kirkland & Ellis LLP Expands Restructuring Practice
Aug 3 - Kirkland & Ellis LLP has announced that Patrick J. Nash, Jr., has joined the Firm as a partner in the Chicago office. Mr. Nash joins Kirkland's Restructuring Practice Group, which includes more than 100 lawyers globally.
 
Kirkland is lead counsel on multiple multibillion dollar out-of-court restructurings, as well as six of the 20 largest public company bankruptcies filed to date in 2009, according to BankruptcyData.com. Mr. Nash will work with members of Kirkland's restructuring group to continue to expand this thriving practice.
Mr. Nash, 37, has been practicing for 13 years. He spent the past nine years with Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he was a partner in the Corporate Restructuring Group. He represents clients in complex business reorganizations including Chapter 11 and out-of-court restructurings, troubled company mergers and acquisitions, debt restructurings and financing matters.
 
Mr. Nash has acted for a variety of companies including VeraSun Energy Corp. and Service Merchandise Co. in their Chapter 11 bankruptcies; Meridian Technologies in its cross-border restructuring; and Krispy Kreme Corp. in the restructuring of its troubled franchisees. Mr. Nash has also represented investors in and acquirers of distressed assets, including TransWorld Entertainment, Inc. in its acquisitions of Musicland and Wherehouse Entertainment; Black Diamond Capital Management in its acquisitions of Foamex International, Hines Nurseries, Werner Ladder and Smarte Carte Corp.; and Silver Point Capital in a number of transactions. He has also acted for secured lenders in debtor-in-possession financings and out-of-court debt restructurings, including Morgan Stanley as debtor-in-possession lender to Bally's Total Fitness; and Black Diamond Commercial Finance in multiple transactions.
 
In 2008, Turnarounds & Workouts honored Mr. Nash as one of America's "Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyers."
 
Mr. Nash is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law and the University of Notre Dame.
