South African Lawyer Navanethem Pillay Confirmed As Next UN High Commissioner For Human Rights
UNITED NATIONS – (AP) South African judge Navanethem Pillay will take over the job of serving as the United Nations' top advocate for human rights.
The General Assembly voted Monday to confirm the 57-year-old female jurist as U.N. high commissioner for human rights, taking over an office with almost 1,000 employees and nearly budget $120 million based in Geneva, Switzerland. Full version (available to lexis.com subscribers)
