Clifford Chance Partner Daniela Weber-Rey To Join Government Commission On German Corporate Governance Code
Frankfurt Am Main Daniela Weber-Rey, partner at the international law firm Clifford Chance, will be admitted as a member of the government commission on the German Corporate Governance Code as of July 2008. She succeeds Prof. Dr. Marcus Lutter in this high-level committee which was appointed in September 2001 and which adopted the German Corporate Governance Code in 2002. Daniela Weber-Rey will continue to work as a partner for the firm. The current chairman, Dr. Gerhard Cromme will also leave his post as part of the reshuffle of the government commission. His successor will be the chairman of the supervisory board of Commerzbank AG and President of the Association of German Banks, Prof. Dr. Klaus-Peter Müller.

Daniela Weber-Rey has been a partner at Clifford Chance's Frankfurt office since 1989. She renders advice to international clients in the fields of corporate law and capital markets on company acquisitions (M&A), including private equity transactions and public takeovers as well as privatisations and restructurings principally in the financial sector. In May 2005 she was appointed a member of the "Advisory Group on Corporate Governance and Company Law" at the EU Commission.

Brigitte Zypries, the German Federal Minister of Justice commented as follows on the future appointments: "I wish both Prof. Dr. Müller and Ms. Weber-Rey all the best in their future endeavours, and may they have the diplomatic skills and political savvy necessary to always manage to strike the right balance between innovation and acceptability, not only in respect of the Code, but also against the backdrop of future developments and requirements of international capital markets". Dr. Hans-Josef Schneider, managing partner of Clifford Chance Germany commented: "In recent years Daniela Weber-Rey has made a name for herself as an expert in the area of corporate governance. I am convinced that she will be able to successfully impart her expertise and experience in the government commission. Clifford Chance welcomes the news of
