BOSTON – Liberty Insurance Co. Ltd. announced in a statement on July 14 its approval from the China Insurance Regulatory Commission to establish a branch in Beijing. It will be the first China branch for the company, a wholly owned subsidiary of Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group, Inc.

Liberty Insurance Co. will offer both commercial and personal lines insurance.

The company will focus on small to midsize businesses. The insurer will offer an array of commercial services that include workers’ compensation, commercial auto and general liability.
