CleanTech Experts to Present at Upcoming Seminar
Palo Alto seminar will discuss evolving CleanTech market, technology & intellectual property trends
SAN JOSE, Calif. – In the competitive and rapidly evolving CleanTech world, companies and investors face the ongoing challenge of determining the claims coverage of their patent portfolio versus that of their competitors'. An important trend in this marketplace is the use of patent claims Innovation Landscapes to "make visible" areas of interest and opportunity.

Two leaders in the CleanTech industry, Lyndon Rive -- CEO of SolarCity and Ford Tamer, Ph.D. -- Operating Partner at Khosla Ventures, will discuss perspectives on CleanTech market, technology and investment trends at an upcoming Palo Alto seminar: "CleanTech Innovation Landscape." Rive and Tamer's insights will be framed by case studies and presentations designed to help CleanTech industry leaders understand the industry's claims coverage issues.

The event, hosted by Silicon Valley intellectual property law firm Schwegman, Lundberg & Woessner, P.A. ("SLW"), Lucid Patent, LLC and Sunlight Research, LLC will take place on Thursday evening, September 18, 2008, at the Sheraton Hotel in Palo Alto, California.

"CleanTech Innovation Landscape" will include an overview of market and technology trends and will focus on a detailed examination of the claims coverage held by assignees in various CleanTech markets. SLW will also discuss lessons learned while working with CleanTech organizations.

The seminar will highlight the key findings of two recently published reports by Sunlight Research covering the claims coverage of CleanTech patents and pending applications in the areas of Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Fuel Cell, Li Battery and Electric/Hybrid Motors. Each report compares and contrasts the patent coverage relating to these markets. The analysis, which comprehensively evaluated more than 8,000 issued patents and pending patent applications, is driven by ClaimBot(R), a robust software application that helps patent experts, business managers, and investors to rapidly sort, rank, and analyze patent claims coverage. ClaimBot(R)'s ability to drill-down to the claims level of an individual patent makes it a valuable tool for claims analysis and as an adjunct resource for business planning and valuation.
