Colorado BioScience Association Seeks Region's Top Innovators for Venture Showcase Competition at 2008 BioWest Conference & Expo
DENVER – What do Apoplogic Pharmaceuticals, Inviragen and ValveXchange have in common? All three have been past winners of the BioWest Venture Showcase award. Rick Duke, Dan Stinchcomb and Ivan Vesely all report that winning the award provided them with local and national exposure that would normally be impossible to get.
Do you have compelling bioscience technology (biotechnology, medical device or bio-fuels) and a home run business plan? Do you belong in the group above? "If you answer yes," according to Christine Shapard, Deputy Director, Colorado Bioscience Association (CBSA), "then we want to see your application and business plan for the Venture Showcase."
Six companies will be chosen to present to a panel of distinguished national venture capital investors. Each competing company will have 15 minutes to present their technologies and business plans to the judges. The most compelling presentation will receive the $10,000 Venture Showcase award.
The annual Venture Showcase award will be presented by a new sponsor this year. Dorsey & Whitney LLC will provide valuable presentation and preparation advice to the six companies chosen to present at the showcase. "Dorsey is proud to sponsor this year's Venture Showcase Award at BioWest," said Tim Worrall, a biotech patent attorney with Dorsey & Whitney. "Our firm is excited to be able to assist early-stage bioscience companies by providing sound businessadvice and support in both intellectual property and corporate matters."
Applications for the Venture Showcase competition may be downloaded from the website http://www.BiowestConference.com . Completed forms must be submitted by October 1, 2008, to Christine Shapard, Cshapard@cobioscience.com
