PALO ALTO, Calif. — Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, a provider of legal services to technology, life sciences and growth enterprises worldwide, has announced that Stuart A. Williams has become a partner at the firm.
Williams most recently was chief legal officer at Mylan — a generic and specialty pharmaceutical company — and will play a key role in the firm's global generics practice. Based in the New York office and serving an international clientele, he will work closely with many different practice areas across the firm, including intellectual property, litigation, antitrust, regulatory, corporate, and mergers and acquisitions.
The members of the firm's global generics practice — including attorneys with advanced scientific degrees in areas such as pharmacology, molecular biology and organic chemistry — work closely with generic pharmaceutical clients' legal and scientific personnel and senior management to understand and meet their specific needs both in the United States and abroad, particularly in the burgeoning China and India markets.
During his tenure at Mylan, Williams was a key advisor to the company's senior management. He was responsible for all legal issues affecting both the parent company and its subsidiaries, including intellectual property and litigation matters of central importance to the company, as well as complex trials and appeals, antitrust, arbitration, the full spectrum of company agreements, cutting-edge regulatory issues and government inquiries.
Williams earned his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1978 and graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from the Pennsylvania State University in 1975.
