Top IP Policy Attorney and Former Senate Judiciary Committee Counsel Joins PCT Government Relations
WASHINGTON – PCT Government Relations, LLC announced today that Marla P. Grossman, former counsel to Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman, Patrick Leahy (D-VT), has joined PCT Government Relations as a Partner.
 
"Marla's experience on the Senate Judiciary Committee, as a leading intellectual property attorney and as an entrepreneur adds significant depth and diversity to PCT's already strong team," said Chris S. For the past five years, Ms. Grossman lead the Grossman Group, a consulting firm focused on intellectual property and technology government relations matters. Prior to that, Ms. Grossman was a partner at the law firm of DLA Piper US LLP, which acquired the law firm of Verner, Liipfert, Bernhard, McPherson and Hand, where Ms. Grossman served as a partner and head of the Internet Ventures Practice Group.
 
From 1997-1999, Ms. Grossman served as minority counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where she helped coordinate legislative activities on intellectual property, electronic commerce, Internet usage and entertainment and technology issues. She played a substantial role in drafting and negotiating landmark IP legislation such as the Digital Millennium Copyright Act; Copyright Term Extension Act; Trademark Law Treaty Implementation Act; Domain Name Amendment Act; and U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Reauthorization Act. Before working on Capitol Hill, she served as the Assistant Director of Public Liaison and Director of Law Enforcement Outreach for the Clinton-Gore 1996 presidential campaign.
 
Ms. Grossman lectures extensively on intellectual property, technology and entertainment issues and has served as a guest lecturer at Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government from 1995-2000. She has been quoted frequently by national media publications on topics related to intellectual property, entertainment and government relations matters.
 
Ms. Grossman has been featured in the Washington Business Journal: "Women Who Mean Business: Honoring the Region's Most Influential Business Women"; the Washingtonian magazine: "Women to Watch: Women Under 40 Who are Beginning to Make Their Mark on Washington"; The New York Times; Fast Company Magazine; CIO Magazine and several other publications. She was also a Working Woman Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards nominee in 2001.
 
Ms. Grossman received her J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School, and a B.A., summa cum laude, from Yale University (Phi Beta Kappa). She is admitted to the Maryland and District of Columbia bars.
