(The European Patent Institute) On June 30, 2010, the current EPO President, Ms Alison Brimelow (GB), will conclude her term of office as EPO President.
The position becomes vacant on July 1, 2010, and there are four qualified candidates to fill the position. The candidates are:
- Ms Susanne Ås Sivborg (SE)
- Mr Benoît Battistelli (FR)
- Mr Roland Grossenbacher (CH)
- Mr Jesper Kongstad (DK)
The European Patent Convention governs the appointment procedure. The European Patent Organisation’s Administrative Council will hear the qualified candidates individually before deliberating and voting on the appointment at the 119th Administrative Council meeting on October 27-30, 2009. The European Patent Institute carried out interviews with all four candidates, who all agreed to answer the same eight questions.
