Convicted Former N.M. Regulator Gets Jail Time
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico – (Business Insurance) Joseph Ruiz, a former deputy superintendent of insurance in New Mexico, was sentenced to 48 months in prison and ordered to pay $105,000 for coercing charitable contributions from 11 insurers or insurance service companies between 2002 and 2005 primarily in exchange for reducing or eliminating regulatory fines.
