Regulation of Investment Companies
This release thoroughly reviewed and revised all the chapters of Regulation of Investment Companies to make it current with the most recent statutory and regulatory developments affecting investment companies and advisers. Chapter 7 Advisory Contracts, Distribution and Underwritings: Sections 6-15 has been updated to discuss “dual hatting” arrangements. Chapter 9 Auction Rate Preferred Securities has been revised to discuss such securities. Over the years, a number of closed-end funds have employed leverage to increase the returns on their common shares. Chapter 25 Mutual Fund Activities of Employee Benefit Plans and Related Programs has been updated to reflect form 5500. On an annual basis, an employee benefit plan with 100 or more participants must file a Form 5500 with the DOL within seven months of the end of the plan year. Finally, chapter 26 Exchange-Traded Funds and Other Unique Products, has been revised to discuss “lifestyle funds.”
