Every Penny Counts, Inc. v. American Express, 2009 U.S. App. LEXIS 9412

District court did not err when it found that companies that sold gift cards did not infringe U.S. Patent No. 5,621,640 and other patents that described a method which allowed consumers to direct cash payments they received after they made a purchase to charities, savings accounts, and other accounts.
