A divided Wisconsin Supreme Court has denied the City of Milwaukee's petition for review of the defense verdict handed down in Milwaukee Circuit Court last year.

On April 9 the majority, from which Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson dissented, shut the door on the city's attempt to get a new trial based on what it contended were errors pertaining to the admission of certain evidence.

With Milwauke's public nuisance lawsuit ended, the only remaining lawsuit of this kind brought by a municipality is the Santa Clara County lawsuit which is pending before the California Supreme Court.
