Seems like its been a busy few days and weeks for judges presiding over asbestos trials. Heck, for that matter, it seems like its been a busy 2008.
The latest example is a $7M verdict out of Allegheny County, Pa. against a number of entities. That on the heals of a $12M verdict in Phase I of an asbestos trial that, not surprising after that award, settled prior to the liability phase. Also, a jury awarded $7.5M in Middlesex County, N.J. That comes about as a result of a new trial that was ordered because the original jury awarded $500,000 in pain and suffering but nothing for loss of consortium. Exxon Mobil was the defendant.
Not to be left out, Union Carbide got a defense verdict in Los Angeles of all places and Georgia-Pacific picked up a win in Cook County, Ill.
