Settlements and dismissals are commonplace during long, complex trials. But what do jurors think when attorneys for defendants start to disappear along the way? Actual jurors from two California asbestos cases — Prough v. Allis Chalmers in Los Angeles County Superior Court and Beauchamp v. Allis Chalmers in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California — shared their views about how exiting litigants affected their perspectives at trial. The pair spoke during The National Asbestos Litigation Conference on Sept. 23-25, 2009, in San Francisco, produced by HB Litigation Conferences. The panel was moderated by Susan Fillichio of DecisionQuest, with questions presented by Michael Pietrykowski of Gordon & Rees, co-chair of the conference. See what they had to say.
