The Iowa Workers’ Compensation Commissioner’s Office has provided a new tool for attorneys to find the workers’ compensation carrier for any employer as of any recent injury date. The information can be reached by going to http://www.iowaworkforce.org/wc/ncci.htm. Click on the red letters that say, “EMPLOYER’S WORKERS’ COMPENSATION INSURANCE COVERAGE.” That will take you to a search page, where you can enter the employer’s name and the date of injury. A search result page will show that employer and any employers with similar names. You can click on the appropriate name, and you will go to a page that should show the name of the insurance carrier for that employer for that date of injury. The page does not show the address of the carrier. Since some carriers have adjustors in various offices, you may have to do some hunting to find the appropriate office.

This is a tool for defense counsel and claimants’ counsel, to confirm the coverage for that injury date. It can be quite useful to report an injury to the carrier if the employer refuses to turn the injury in to their carrier.
