Six People Arrested in Sweep for Workers’ Comp Fraud (NY) – A sweep in Nausau County resulted in charges brought against several people: Sean Tolliver (video surveillance showed him jogging), Robin Ardiano (alleged double dipper), John Buonagura (alleged double dipper), Thore Foss (alleged false insurance certificate), Marcos Gamboa (alleged double dipper), and Neil Grange (alleged false insurance certificate). Watsonville Woman Pleads Guilty to Workers’ Comp Fraud (CA) – Maria Garcia Navarro has pleaded guilty to one felony count of workers’ comp fraud for saying she was involved in a car accident when an investigation showed she wasn’t in her car at the time of the crash. Read more
Huntington Park Man Charged With Filing False Workers’ Comp Claim (CA) – Pedro Ramos has been charged with alleged workers’ comp fraud after an investigation showed that he may have made material misrepresentations in sworn testimony and to medical providers for the purpose of filing a false claim. Bill Collector Who Cashed Dead Mother’s Checks Arrested (NY) – Robin E. Kassirer, a
Buffalo bill collector, was arrested for allegedly cashing workers’ compensation checks sent to her deceased mother. Read more
Brookdale Inn Owner Arrested for Workers’ Comp Fraud (CA) – Sanjiv Kakkar was arrested on suspicion of not having workers’ comp insurance, not paying an employee’s medical bill after being hurt on the job, and paying workers with checks that bounced. Read more
Hockey Rink Owners Charged With Workers’ Comp Insurance Fraud (PA) – Randy R. Skokowski and Gary F. Stump, the owners of a former street hockey rink, waived a preliminary hearing on charges that they failed to maintain workers’ compensation insurance while the business was operating. Read more
Restaurant Worker Sentenced for Workers’ Comp Fraud (CA) – Armando Landa was sentenced after pleading guilty to one count of felony workers’ comp fraud. While working at Chicago For Ribs in
Ventura , Landa filed for workers’ comp for an alleged injury to his right elbow. While receiving workers’ comp benefits, he obtained employment at Teppan’s Steak House in
