Attica Guard Accused of Workers’ Comp Fraud (NY) – James S. Gibbs, a correctional officer at the Attica Correctional Facility, has been charged with defrauding the state insurance fund by collecting disability compensation while receiving wages for plowing driveways and sealing parking lots. Correction Officer Charged With Workers’ Comp Fraud (CT) – Stephen E. Zaczynski, a lieutenant with the state Correction Department, has been charged with workers’ compensation fraud for filing for benefits while working at the company he co-owns. Read more
Teacher Arrested for Workers’ Comp Fraud (NY) – Kathy M. Martinez was arrested for accepting $73,000 in workers’ compensation benefits while she worked at a youth sports camp. Read more
Sheriff’s Deputy Indicted for Workers’ Comp Fraud (NY) – Barbara Dunn , a Putnam County sheriff’s deputy, was indicted on multiple charges of grand larceny, perjury and official misconduct for collecting $56,000 in benefits for an injury she said occurred on the job, when she was injured after being thrown from a horse. Center were closed down Tuesday while federal investigators searched the buildings. The Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation said there is an ongoing investigation into workers’ compensation fraud with respect to this chiropractor. Read more
