Brooklyn Doctor Charged With Defrauding Workers' Comp Insurers (NY) – Federal prosecutors have charged a physician with defrauding workers' comp insurers by seeking payment for procedures never performed, by seeking reimbursement for a suspect number of procedures that would be difficult to perform all in one day, and by seeking money from two different insurers for treating the same patient with the same procedure on the same day. Bainbridge Police Officer and Mother Arrested for Insurance Fraud (GA) – A Bainbridge police officer and his mother, who ran a payroll and insurance service for local businesses, were charged with insurance fraud for taking $22,000 from an Albany business for their own benefit, this after an investigation by the State Board of Workers' Compensation revealed a phony workers' comp certificate for the Albany business.
