Nevada Man Caught on Tape Sentenced for Workers' Comp Fraud (NV) – A man who claimed permanent disability and said he couldn't drive or walk without a cane, was sentenced for insurance fraud after investigators videotaped him driving and carrying a 24-pack of Pepsi and Coke. Read more
Paving Company Owner Charged With Failing to Provide Workers' Comp (NJ) - A Morris County paving company owner was indicted on a charge of failing to provide workers' compensation, which led to the state having to pay $254,000 in insurance coverage for one of his injured employees. Read more
Columbia Farms Poultry Plant Indicted for Employing Illegal Immigrants (NC) – A federal jury has indicted the Columbia Farms subsidiary of the House of Raeford on 29 counts of knowingly hiring illegal immigrants at a poultry processing plant. Read more
Los Angeles Police Department Civilian Employee Arrested for Workers' Comp Fraud (CA) – A Principal Detention Officer was arrested and booked for workers' comp and insurance fraud relating to filing a false claim for workers' comp on the grounds that she actually sustained the injury at her residence prior to reporting to work. Construction Company and Owner Pleads Guilty in Workers' Comp Premium Fraud Case (NY) – A construction company and its owner have entered guilty pleas and the payment of $150,000 in restitution to the NY State Insurance Fund in relation to workers' compensation premium fraud. Read more
Niagara Man Faces Multiple Fraud Charges (NY) – A Niagara Falls man has been arrested on multiple felonies in a case of workers’ compensation fraud for collecting wage-replacement benefits for more than a year from the New York State Insurance Fund after he allegedly returned to work. Read more
Former Insurance Agent Nabbed for Workers' Comp Fraud (AR) - A former insurance agent was charted with taking checks totaling $2,125 for workers' compensation insurance as well as general liability insurance from a construction company and cashing the checks without purchasing the insurance. St. Paul Man Receives Check From State in Wrong Amount, Now Charged With Theft (MN) – A man has been charged with felony theft after he mistakenly received a workers' compensation settlement check for $55,571.65 instead of $13,000 and he spent all the money, except for 94 cents, over a five-month period.
