Husband and Wife Charged With Workers’ Comp Premium Fraud (LA) – Mauro and Keren Aguirre, owners of Escapade Acoustic Drywall, were arrested on charges of felony theft and workers’ comp premium fraud totaling an estimated $1.2 million in unpaid insurance premiums, according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission. Class Action Claims Firm Bought Confidential Workers’ Comp Information (OH) – A class action filed in Cuyahoga County Court claims that the Bureau of Research and its owner Stedson McIntyre bought confidential claimant information from an employee of the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and disclosed it to third parties, including a felon. Sentencing of Oriskany-based Developer Postponed Until November (NY) – The sentencing of Robert “Skip” Anderson Sr., who, along with James Kerman, president of Oriska Insurance Co., was accused of conspiring to offer unauthorized workers’ comp insurance policies through the company, has been postponed until November 4. Former Cop Accused of Workers’ Comp Fraud (WA) – Valerie Mills, a former
Montgomery
County police officer, has been charged with committing workers’ comp fraud by not telling the County when she applied for workers’ compensation that she had twisted her knee while off duty. Read more
Former Teacher Charged With Workers’ Comp Fraud (CT) – Lili Kinsman-Cabelus of
Durham was charged with workers’ comp fraud for opening up a Pilates and yoga studio while out on disability. Read more
West Point Woman Indicted for Workers’ Comp Fraud (KY) – Teddi R. Blanford was indicted for allegedly receiving workers’ comp benefits while fraudulently misrepresenting and concealing her true medical and physical condition. Read more
Austin Man Indicated on Workers’ Comp Fraud Charges (TX) – A Travis County grand jury indicted Ronald Hernandez of Austin and his temporary labor company, A&R Interests LLC., on workers’ compensation fraud-related charges for allegedly giving Texas Mutual false information about his workforce and business relationships in his applications for insurance coverage and provided incomplete payroll records.
