OAKLAND, CA - A comprehensive testing procedure for vendor-developed optical character recognition (OCR) forms used in the Electronic Adjudication Management System (EAMS) has been completed. The testing, which took place at Division of Workers’ Compensation (DWC) headquarters in Oakland and was conducted by DWC staff, began June 29 and concluded Nov. 10.
A total of 12 vendors’ forms passed the test:
- A1-Law
- Associated Reproduction Services, Inc.
- CompData EDEX Services
- DWC Direct
- EDEX Information Systems
- Essential Publishers, Inc.
- LexisNexis
- PerfectFiler
- ProDoc
- SpeedComp EDEX Services
- TheOfficeVault
- WorkCompCentral
The complete list of vendors can also be found at www.dwc.ca.gov/eams.
“EAMS regulations require vendor-developed OCR forms work in an equivalent manner to DWC-created forms,” said DWC Court Administrator Keven Star. “Now end users have a way to confirm the vendor forms they’re using pass muster, which will improve the accuracy of their filings.”
Forms vendors who wanted their forms tested by DWC followed these steps:
- Submitted a complete set of filled OCR forms they provide to clients, including document cover and document separator sheets
- Submitted a parallel set of DWC OCR forms filled and printed from the DWC Web site
- Both sets of forms were filled out and completed using identical information
- Both sets of forms were filled out as if they were being submitted to the district office for filing (the forms were only used for testing and were not actually entered into EAMS)
- Both sets of forms were originals, not copies
- Both sets of forms were printed from the same printer.
Both sets of forms were then tested by DWC in side-by-side comparison for errors and discrepancies. Vendors had the opportunity to fix any problems found and resubmit their forms for further testing.
