UN Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking
Posted by UN.GIFT
The United Nations Global Initiative to Fight Human Trafficking (UN.GIFT) is based on the principle that human trafficking is a crime of such magnitude and atrocity that no single government could successfully combat it and that such a global problem requires  a global, multi-stakeholder approach that takes advantage of the combined efforts of all nations. UN.GIFT’s mission is based on the Protocol to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in Persons especially Women and Children, which supplements the Palermo Convention against trans-national organized crime. To date, over 110 countries have signed the Protocol.

UN.GIFT was launched in March 2007 by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) with a grant made on behalf of the United Arab Emirates.
