Oct. 30--ASHLAND -- The Boyd and Greenup/Lewis County Bar Associations honored colleagues at a recognition dinner on Tuesday at the Ashland Plaza Hotel.
Roger W. Hall received the Attorney of the Year for Boyd County and Bruce W. MacDonald received the award for Greenup-Lewis County.
Christopher A. Dawson was given the Outstanding Newcomer Award, Clayton G. Lykins, Jr., was given the Distinguished Service Award and Katherine K. Kendall was given the Comeback Award.
All attorneys providing pro bono services were given a token of appreciation for their services.
Sponsors of the event were the Lawyers Mutual Insurance Co., the Kentucky Bar Association, Legal Aid of the Bluegrass, Access to Justice Foundation and the Kentucky Volunteer Lawyer Program.
The event was one of several taking place across the state this October as part of the American Bar Association's first National Pro Bono Celebration, which is intended to recognize the impact pro bono attorneys have in communities.
Will T. Scott, deputy chief justice of the Supreme Court of Kentucky, was the host of the event.
William T. "Bill" Robinson, the unopposed president elect of the American Bar Association 2010, was the guest speaker.
